FAQs

Thank you for being in touch and raising some concerns.

Please see below for some common questions that have been asked.

Who will I report to?

All facets of operations will remain as they were post acquisition. Please continue reporting to the resources you were reporting to prior new ownership.

What happens to my job if LinkPoint has it covered, is it now redundant

LinkPoint and Connect will operate as independent business, with the opportunity of making uses of one another’s resources. Your job will remain as is and is not considered redundant. You’ve been an asset to Connect and, in new ownership eyes, you remain an asset.

Will I still be doing the same job/same role

At present, your employment conditions (status, expectations, etc.) will remain the same as they were prior new ownership. Over the next few weeks, new ownership will be meeting with you to get to know you a little better. We’d like to hear your thoughts regarding your career goals and growth/development.

Processes, procedures, project management and staff support (management)

We have begun the knowledge transfer process where Kyle, Brandon and Mike have taken rotations at Connect’s office. It’s important for us to first learn about Connect’s way of working, before we start standardization processes and procedures. We do encourage the continued feedback so we can better understand how you normally do things and/or any gaps.

Will there be better documentation practices?

Documentation is something we value highly and is important in ensuring continuity when serving our clients. We will be addressing documentation as a part of standard operating processes in the next few weeks.

Can you provide job evaluations and employee feedback?

We will introduce one-on-one employee feedback sessions. These sessions are aimed at receiving feedback on how the company can better support you (ie: education/training) and for management to support your continued career development. More details to come.

What will the employee contracts look like

Employee contracts are being drafted and will be proposed shortly.

Will regular staff events continue?

The Summer Campout and Christmas events are amazing events and will definitely continue.

What about our benefits

Your benefits will remain active until the new employee agreements have been signed. At that point, your coverage will be the same, or better, than current.

Who approves my vacation requests

The vacation request process will remain as it was prior new ownership. Over the next few weeks, we will look to hire a dedicated HR resource to better support you and your needs

What’s with the negative reviews on Glass Door?

A couple years ago, LinkPoint was forced to make a difficult decision where we needed to part company with some staff who were a poor fit for the company. Earlier this year, there was another two positions that required turn over. Upon termination of these relationships, there were a couple of staff members who had negative emotions from being let go and posted these reviews on the company in the months following.

Glass Door’s business model is based on the emotional reaction of employers, whereby employees have an open platform to voice any comments; true or falsified. In fact, people can leave comments about any business and even fake being an employee. For an employer to respond to these claims, Glass Door will charge the employer a fee.

It’s to this point that LinkPoint simply declined to engage. As a collective business, our focus is to serve our clients and look after one another. Anything outside of this distracts us from our focus. And while LinkPoint had to make some tough decisions in its journey to being the company it is today, we always ensured that the employee was looked after.

In our due diligence of Connect, we were very pleased to see that every employee seems to be a right fit for the company. This was a compelling reason for us to engage and continue the path in acquiring Connect. We are all humbled to work with you and management is looking forward to serving to you.

How do we deal with single point-of-contacts?

It’s a huge compliment when a client builds a trust and confidence with an individual tech. This, however, poses an unfair pressure on the tech especially in times where the tech may be assigned to other tasks and the client has an urgent issue. For this reason, it is important for us to maintain concise documentation and provide knowledge transfer to our coworkers so that any of our techs may be able to step in and assist.

Can I work from home?

We are reviewing what the normal company policy has been and will have an update on this in the next few weeks.

Dogs in the office

We are all fans of our furry friends, big and small. However, there are a number of expressed concerns about whether it’s appropriate or not for having our pets join us at work. We understand all sides of the argument and are discussing the matter to ensure that we make a decision that is in the best interest for everyone.
